Role: Geospatial Analyst - Multiple Positions

 

Work Environment:

  • Location is flexible:  NGA offices in St Louis or Arnold, MO
  • Travel up to 15% of the time

Responsibilities

The Geospatial Analyst job title also covers such subtitles as Data Collector, Source Packager, and Product Delivery Specialist. The Geospatial Analyst role requires applyig geospatial knowledge to a variety of data types, whether it be through data collection, manipulation, verification, attribution, conflation, or foundational applications. The analyst may need to acquire, analyze, compile, and disseminate location-based information and intelligence, using data to populate geospatial databases and/or create Geospatial Intelligence products. The geospatial analyst is a flexible role that relies on understanding of basic geospatial concepts of projection, elevation, attribution, and works in conjunction with source materials to update and/or creating new geospatial feature data sets, maps and charts, submitting work through the QA/QC process along a wide variety of mission areas and geographic settings, while meeting deadlines in a high-tempo environment.  

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in geography or imagery analysis or US Military Imagery Analysis discipline; Additional experience can be substituted for education.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in imagery/geospatial analysis, geography, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). 
  • Knowledge of commercial GIS software solutions such as ESRI products (ArcMap, ArcPro), SOCET GXP, QGIS, RemoteView or similar electronic light table applications.
  • Experience using GIS systems to collect, manipulate, identify, or analyze vector or raster data sets. 
  • Knowledge of geospatial data types (shapefiles, geodatabases, etc.) and DoD applications such as GRiD and DVOF).
  • Experience working with Digital Elevation Models (DEM) for elevation and understanding of how they affect feature vertical accuracy.
  • Experience working with imagery and understanding of how projections affect feature horizontal accuracy.
  • Experience using feature layers (shapefiles), geodatabases (GDB, FDB), and safe data handling and storage procedures.
  • Ability to work in independently, with little supervision in high-tempo environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently, both orally and in writing. 

Preferred (in addition to requirements):

  • Knowledge of NGA Products and Services.
  • Familiarity with foreign partner data, maps, specifications, and products.
  • Experience with data conversion and migration techniques.
  • Experience with data collection methods and distribution packaging best practices. 
  • Experience with data quality assurance procedures, including the use of Geospatial Analysis Integrity Tool (GAIT).
  • Experience with international data programs such as Multinational Geospatial Co-production Program (MGCP), International Geospatial Warehouse (IGW), or regulations such as International Trade in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
  • Experience with Python scripting.
  • Current GEOINT Professional Certification-Foundations (GPC-F). 

Security Clearance Requirements: 

  • For this position it is mandatory to be a United States citizen and have an existing TS/SCI with ability to obtain and maintain a Counter-Intelligence (CI) Polygraph
  • Applicants with no clearance will not be considered.
