Overview

NV5 is actively seeking a licensed Civil Design Engineer to join our dynamic Development Services Group in Albuquerque, NM where you'll play a crucial role in designing and managing a variety of civil engineering projects, such as water resources, transportation, utilities & land development.

 

Our ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong technical skills, and has a proven track record of successfully completing complex projects. 

Responsibilities

  • Participate in advanced engineering planning for large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Contribute to master planning efforts for community developments of various sizes, including Land Use Plans (Masterplans, Sector Development Plans, Re-Zone Plans, Site Development Plans, etc.)
  • Design and plan support infrastructure for Master Planned communities, such as Master Drainage Management Plans, Master Water Supply Plans, Master Wastewater Plans, Master Traffic and Transportation Plans, in collaboration with our Water Resources Group and Transportation Group.
  • Prepare, submit, and process Site Development Plans, Plats, and Construction Documents through various agency Public Hearings and Plan Review processes on behalf of our clients.
  • Oversee and provide surface modeling using AutoCAD and other CAD products to design and model proposed conditions surfaces, and use these surfaces to generate plan and profiles, section views, earthwork quantities, etc.
  • Assist with detailed roadway corridor surface modeling and design on a limited basis for minor roadway design.
  • Prepare engineering reports and documents.
  • Lead the production of construction plans and specifications.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs and tabulations.
  • Engage in professional organizations to stay updated with industry trends and developments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in New Mexico, or able to obtain the license within 6 months.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Proficiency in standard engineering techniques, reference materials, and design criteria.
  • Experience with CAD design tools such as AutoCAD/Civil3D, MicroStation/InRoads, or similar.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Working knowledge of PowerPoint is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Ability to present projects at public hearings and meetings.
  • Ability to adhere to an assigned work plan, manage time effectively, and complete tasks on schedule and within budget.
  • Availability to occasionally work overtime, including weekends, as needed.
  • Willingness for occasional overnight travel.
