Responsibilities

Job Duties Include:

  • Perform routine functional checks on portable radiological monitoring instruments using radioactive check sources.
  • Operate measurement and calibration equipment, sometimes outdoors in inclement weather.
  • Operate radiological instruments and collect samples for potential radiological contamination.
  • Complete data forms on a PC using Excel, Word for Windows, and other instrument-specific software.
  • Perform minor electronic and instrument repairs.
  • Perform warehouse activities including moving, lifting, staging, opening, and carrying packages up to 50 pounds each.
  • Drive an off-road vehicle to collect field measurements.
  • Operate high-pressure gas systems.
  • Operate equipment wearing hearing protection.

Qualifications

Candidate MUST have

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field such as biology, chemistry, and physics, etc with 4 years of experience outside of academia OR 4+ years of science-related work experience.
  • The candidate must show in detail 4 + years of work and specific activities performed: such as sample collection, including types of samples, examples of report writing, types of chemical, biological, or radiological tests performed, reviewing field data for abnormalities, instrument calibration and QC, preparation of field monitoring and safety plans, supervision of personnel, types of experiments and analysis performed, etc.
