Overview

NV5 is seeking an experienced and motivated Data Architect to work as part of a growing team of geospatial and data science professionals. The role will entail designing, implementing, and maintaining Postgres/PostGIS databases and other data architectures within internal and client cloud infrastructures to support machine learning applications on large data, including geospatial data. The Data Architect will also communicate data architecture solutions to the internal team and end clients.

 

Work Environment:

  • Location is flexible:  NV5 Geospatial Regional offices or work from home considered
  • Travel < 20% of the time

Responsibilities

  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications, data models, data streams, and Postgres/PostGIS databases
  • Convert or embed data science workflows into production-grade, enterprise systems
  • Design, develop, and maintain infrastructure for geospatial analysis and machine learning applications on large data
  • Deploy monitoring tools to track status and performance of system architecture and data flows
  • Communicate data architecture solutions to internal team and clients

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Data and database architecture design within cloud computing infrastructure
  • Postgres/PostGIS database management
  • Systems analysis
  • Experience working with Geospatial data
  • Data mining
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desired Skills and Certifications:

  • Familiarity with a variety of geospatial data formats
  • Web map application development – Geoserver 
  • Experience working with federal agencies 
  • Security+ Certification

Preferred Languages and Software:

  • MySQL
  • Python
  • Databricks Platform
  • FOSS GIS Software (GDAL/OGR, PROJ, Leaflet, etc.)
  • FOSS GIS Platforms (GeoServer, QGIS, GRASS GIS)
  • Esri GIS Platforms (Desktop/Enterprise/Online)
  • STAC Spec

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in data science, geospatial, IT, or related field

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $110,000.00- $125,000.00 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the Colorado Equal Pay Act. Base pay information is based on market location. Applicants should apply via the NV5 careers site.
