Are you a problem solver? We are looking for passionate, driven Mechanical Engineers to join our Mechanical Building Systems Team focused on delivering engineering solutions with an interest in Higher Education, Government, and Industrial projects.  The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and well versed in leading and contributing to engineering teams in the delivery of mechanical systems through planning, engineering, design, retro-commissioning, and energy consulting on complex projects for local and national clients. While we are a hybrid office, this candidate would report to the St. Paul, MN office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to engineering teams in the delivery of high-performance mechanical building systems including planning, design, commissioning, energy optimization and consulting on complex projects.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with clients, and NV5 employees.
  • Support proposal opportunities.
  • Desire to grow technically and professionally.
  • Lead the day-to-day design work on specific projects.
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Develop plans, specifications and cost estimates for a limited number of concurrent projects.
  • Prepare studies, drawing or sketches as required; create final design documents.
  • Be familiar and current with building mechanical and plumbing systems and applicable regulatory codes.
  • Development of construction documents, project specifications, studies, and reports.
  • Prepare design drawings and/or provide mark ups to drafting team or other project resources.
  • Research and analyze technical data, installation and operations manuals for products and equipment.
  • Coordinate the design work of internal and external design team members including Architectural, Civil, Structural and MEP.
  • Provide technical guidance, direction, and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
  • Implement the QAQC process and perform reviews (peer, interdisciplinary, and intradisciplinary)
  • While the majority of work will be executed out of the Saint Paul office, intermittent travel to more remote projects may be required.

Qualifications

  • BS Mechanical Engineering
  • 7-10 Years mechanical engineering experience in consulting engineering from design through construction  
  • Consulting engineering experience in some or all of the following: laboratory and/or research facilities, sustainable design solutions, critical environments design, and building automation systems design.
  • Professional Registration (PE) is desired, but at a minimum has already taken and passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
  • Comfortable working directly with clients.
  • Experience with management and/or technical leadership of projects is desired.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit software.
  • Experience with energy modeling software and sustainable design is desired.
