Overview

NV5 is seeking a Survey Manager who will play a crucial role in orchestrating the meticulous planning, coordination, and oversight of survey projects. With a commitment to precision, you'll ensure that each project is completed flawlessly within established deadlines and budgets. As a linchpin in our operations, you'll demonstrate adept management skills by leading survey teams with finesse, orchestrating seamless data collection processes, and delivering insightful reports that drive informed decision-making. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients or stakeholders to understand project objectives and requirements. 
  • Develop project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget estimates. 
  • Identify potential challenges and risks and develop mitigation strategies. 
  • Recruit, train, and supervise survey teams. 
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members. 
  • Provide guidance and support to team members throughout the project. 
  • Determine the appropriate survey methods and tools for data collection (e.g., questionnaires, GPS, total stations, LiDAR, etc.). 
  • Ensure data collection procedures are carried out accurately and efficiently. 
  • Implement quality control measures to maintain data accuracy and consistency. 
  • Review survey data for errors and discrepancies and take corrective actions as needed. 
  • Oversee data analysis and interpretation to draw meaningful insights from survey results. 
  • Collaborate with data analysts or specialists as necessary. 
  • Prepare comprehensive survey reports that present findings, conclusions, and recommendations. 
  • Ensure reports are clear, accurate, and meet client or regulatory requirements. 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. 
  • Obtain necessary permits and approvals for survey projects. 
  • Monitor project budgets and expenditures. 
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and manage project finances effectively. 
  • Maintain regular communication with clients or project stakeholders to provide updates and address their concerns. 
  • Address any client requests or changes in project scope. 
  • Maintain organized project documentation, including field notes, data records, and project files. 
  • Technology and Equipment: 
  • Stay current with surveying technology and equipment. 
  • Ensure that surveying tools and software are up to date and functioning properly. 
  • Safety and Environmental Compliance: 
  • Promote and enforce safety procedures to protect the well-being of survey team members and the environment. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., surveying, geomatics, geography, civil engineering, etc.).
  • Professional licensure or certification (California PLS).
  • Proven track record in surveying with demonstrated expertise in managing survey projects.
  • Profound knowledge of surveying methods, equipment, and software.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational acumen.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to thrive both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Valid California Driver's License.

 

 

The pay range for this California position is $114,400.00- $156,000.00 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162. Base pay information is based on market location. Applicants should apply via the NV5 careers site.
