Overview

NV5 Truckee is looking for a Staff Engineer to serve as project manager in the performance of geotechnical field investigations and construction materials testing and special inspections. The candidate will perform field investigations, storm water monitoring and documentation, assist with environmental sampling, assist in preparing geotechnical engineering reports, and construction earthwork testing. Independently performs project-related assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities: Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Geotechnical subsurface investigations.
  • Logging and classification of soils in the field.
  • Groundwater measurements.
  • Environmental sampling.
  • Storm water monitoring and documentation for reporting.
  • Prepares work plans, interprets data and test results, contributes to technical reports and may be responsible for other project components.
  • Contributes to studies, evaluations, modeling, assessments, and investigations for specific projects.
  • Coordinates geotechnical and construction materials laboratory test data.
  • Requires knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures, and professional judgment to make modifications or execute complex features or solutions.
  • Capability to serve as technician for construction materials testing including nuclear gauge testing.
  • Position may require travel to work with other NV5 office locations.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 2 years or more preferred of experience in geotechnical engineering investigation, design, and Construction Quality Assurance (CQA).

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Possesses FE/EIT
  • Licensing track for Professional registration as California PE
  • Valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record

The pay range for this California position is $70,000 - $85,000 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
