If you are a CADD Designer aiming to grow your career within Geomatics & Surveying, then our Geomatics Technician opportunity will provide you with a fulfilling position having you utilize your experience in preparing construction drawings and other documents to design portions of projects, as assigned.

 

As our Geomatics Technician, you will assist survey and Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) groups in the southeast US and elsewhere if applicable.  Project locations will be focused on Georgia, but assignments outside of that are to be expected.  Short-term, short-range travel will occasionally be required.  Primary duties will include professional SUE services, CADD assistance, and survey field and office operations. This includes being part of a project team and working on developing construction-ready documents and plans for bidding, permitting, construction, completion, and cost-estimating activities.

 

This position is based in NV5’s Alpharetta, GA office.

Responsibilities

Other Responsibilities include:

  • Location of underground utilities such as water, gas, power, fiber optic, and telephone.
  • Identification of utility sizes, materials, and types.
  • Work as part of a two-to-four-man crew.
  • Collection of existing conditions information for the assessment and identification of underground utilities.
  • Assist with operation and maintenance of vacuum excavation truck.
  • Be knowledgeable of the quality levels of SUE and how to differentiate between each one.
  • Ability to help implement new technologies and methods.
  • Provide support for land survey in the creation of topographic maps.
  • Operate the survey total station and level instruments.
  • Record survey data in field books.
  • Maintain all survey equipment.
  • Assist party chief with survey files and field calculations.

Qualifications

If you possess the following experience & qualifications, then we would love to learn more about you!

  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office software; Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • 1+ years of land surveying experience.
  • Familiar with AutoCAD and MicroStation, a plus.
  • 1+ years of utility designation experience.
  • Familiarity with iPad or tablet, a plus
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment-preferred
  • Ability to travel.
