We are recruiting a Senior Electrical Engineer to plan, develop, coordinate, and direct a number of projects concurrently including acting as primary contact for the firm in all contractual and project-related communications. The Senior Electrical Engineer works closely with the Group Leader(s) to ensure that company goals and guidelines are maintained. This position also develops and maintains client relationships, develops business opportunities, and promote services, reputation, and name throughout the industry.

Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for supervising and assisting Electrical Engineers and Designers with project planning, managing schedules and budgets to complete work on time and profitably, reviews work of junior level engineers, designers and technicians to ensure quality.
  • Performs professional engineering tasks in own discipline, under the limited supervision of the Project Managers. Develops plans, specifications and cost estimates to comply with specific design contract requirements on a number of concurrent projects.
  • Solves standard and complex engineering problems.
  • Obtains knowledge of building codes and stays current with building code changes.
  • Performs research and writes reports, researches and develops solutions to complex engineering problems.
  • Prepares final design documents, studies, drawings or sketches as required.
  • Will perform calculations as well as operate various software packages related to various portions of the design package.
  • May obtain field data by conducting field visits to project sites both in state and out of state. May require overnight travel.  
  • Reviews individual project workloads, deadlines, budgets, and requirements with the responsible engineers; quality control review of responsible engineer’s design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Applies organizational and management expertise to unique and complex projects and is able to effectively diagnose problems, prepare course of action, and implement the course of action to provide an appropriate solution or resolution of the problem.
  • Assists in the preparation of proposals and contracts by developing project approach, scope of services and budgets based on similar project experience and historical budgeting information; and by speaking at client interviews regarding project management issues.
  • Participates in the Construction Administration process including resolving field problems occurring during construction.
  • Reviews project plans for Electrical discipline.
  • Maintains an accurate assessment of project status through effective communications with the NV5 staff, team leaders and Principals.

Qualifications

 

  • Graduate from an engineering curriculum accredited by the Accreditation for Engineering and Technology or from a Non-accredited engineering curriculum or related engineering science or with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Requires a minimum of ten years of specific on-the-job experience in the consulting engineering field including developing plans and specifications in his/her technical specialty.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the principles of the discipline he/she is designing.
  • Professional Engineer Registration is required. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of PE.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the operation of a computer and CAD systems, specifically AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Communicates effectively with staff, vendors and clients.
  • Follows and accepts work rules and procedures.
