NV5 is seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to support a sales tax-funded transportation infrastructure program for a transportation authority in a major Colorado municipality. The ideal candidate will provide inspection and quality assurance on all aspects of transportation projects within the program, including roadway, bridge, and culvert projects. Responsibilities

  • Arrange, conduct and document pre-construction conference.
  • Attend project meetings and monitor construction schedules.
  • Assist with public involvement and provide stakeholder liaison.
  • Assist with utility interface for adjustment/management, concurrence and inspection.
  • Monitor construction activities and coordinate design consultant periodic visits.
  • Coordinate with other agencies with significant interest in the project.
  • Review change order requests, field changes, requests for information, progress reports and progress payments.
  • Create preliminary and final inspection punch list items.
  • Monitor material testing and quality control procedures.
  • Monitor and route contractor submittals.
  • Review project record drawing (hard copy and digital submittals).
  • Review and approve material submittals.
  • Perform daily inspections and documentation of all the contractor’s work.
  • Coordinate and inspect repairs to existing guardrail.
  • Address and respond to Requests For Information (RFI’s).
  • Facilitate project close-out paperwork.
  • Update GIS database on existing structures.
  • Coordinate with other agencies as needed.
  • Coordinate within project management software “Masterworks” for document storage and project document routing.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience providing inspection experience within the Civil/Transportation engineering field.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel to local construction sites (Colorado Springs) on a daily basis.
  • Ability to safely walk around, and through, active construction sites to execute daily job responsibilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The pay range for this non-exempt position in Colorado is $40 - $60 per hour; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the Colorado Equal Pay Act. Base pay information is based on market location. Applicants should apply via the NV5 careers site.
