Responsibilities

NV5 is seeking an Assistant Transportation Engineer for our Cary or Charlotte, NC locations. The Transportation EI will provide engineering design, calculations, CAD support, and project assistance for the Transportation Design group. The ideal candidate will provide design support and be able to complete assigned projects on time and within budget. The most frequent and essential work activities include:

  • Complete roadway design plans under the direct supervision of a professional engineer.
  • Work alone and in small groups.
  • Use MicroStation and GeoPak software.

Qualifications

Prerequisites for employment include:

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • 0-3 years of previous roadway design or other transportation engineering experience
  • EI Certification a plus (at minimum-FE exam should be scheduled)
  • Knowledge of Microstation and GeoPak software a plus
  • Must be willing to travel on occasion
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment is preferred

 Work Environment and Physical Demands

The characteristics described below are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this position.   • Work will primarily be in the office setting with limited opportunities to be exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Work will be primarily working with fingers by picking, pinching, typing, and grasping often with repetitive motion.
  • Must have visual acuity for viewing a computer screen, the ability to talk, hear and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Weekend and overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required.
  • Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
