NV5 is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our technologists in the INSITE product platform group. NV5 is a provider of engineering and consulting services to public and private sector clients, delivering solutions through six business verticals: Testing, Inspection & Consulting; Infrastructure; Utility Services; Environmental Health Sciences; Buildings & Program Management; and Geospatial Technology. With offices nationwide and abroad, NV5 helps clients plan, design, build, test, certify, and operate projects that improve the communities where we live and work.

INSITE provides on-demand access to cloud-hosted GIS and map data, 3D models, and analytics dashboards and core business intelligence, data integration, and secure cloud hosting functions for all users. This key role is integral to driving the development of cutting-edge geospatial solutions. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in advanced software development, with specific expertise in Agile-based development practices, automation, DevSecOps culture, and geospatial exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a team of remote software engineers and geospatial data specialists in developing advanced LIDAR-based geospatial platform products.
  • Implement and refine the Agile culture frameworks to optimize dev team performance and product development.
  • Align team resources and goals to commit and deliver against high-confidence plans with regular value delivery to a demanding customer base.
  • Foster a DevOps or SecOps culture, integrating geospatial data security and operations into the development life cycle.
  • Strategic leadership in areas of automation, testing, security, and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align the solution platform with NV5’s strategic objectives and client needs.
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends in geospatial technology and LIDAR to ensure NV5 remains at the forefront of the industry.

Qualifications

Education/Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Systems, Geospatial Sciences, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in software development, with a focus on geospatial technology, and at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep knowledge of software engineering including detailed knowledge of at least three of the following topics: requirements, software architecture, program oversight, acquisition management, organizational performance improvement, product assurance, and/or security.
  • Experience in modern software development practices, including continuous integration & deployment, Agile development practices and DevOps or DevSecOps culture.
  • Experience building strategic technical roadmaps that support product aligning goals to outcomes.

Preferred:

  • Experience leading teams in remote/distributed tech staffing model.
  • Expert proficiency in understanding all common testing frameworks.
  • Robust facilitation skills to work with groups of people with divergent perspectives and varying levels of authority/responsibility.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed team setting, taking responsibility for outcomes and collaborative engagement with colleagues.
  • Experience executing technology transition and technology adoption in large scale enterprises.
