Responsibilities

We are seeking an Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to support our growing team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience utilizing the PLS-CADD software suite for the routing, design, and execution of high voltage overhead transmission design projects (60kV to 500kV). Candidate will be well practiced in communicating with a variety of project stakeholders, both internal and external, and will be able to lead a team and make decisions to take projects from inception to closeout. Candidate will be involved in all facets of transmission line routing and design.

  • Routing and design of transmission lines utilizing the Power Line Systems software suite including PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and TOWER.
  • Acting as the lead engineer on projects. Making important decisions and executing work without the need of oversight.
  • Adhering to all project schedules and budgets.
  • Structure analysis and creating load trees.
  • Developing design criteria and specifications.
  • Generating a list of materials and working with vendors to execute procurement.
  • QA/QC projects and engineering packages prior to release.
  • Will prepare drawings and documentation for construction of transmission line projects.
  • Providing leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff members.
  • Regularly meets and corresponds with clients or outside personnel.
  • Brings forth ideas that would help improve the team’s operation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience with routing, design, and specification of high voltage overhead transmission and/or distribution lines.
  • Expertise in Power Line Systems software suite (i.e., PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, TOWER, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently and without oversight to produce quality work in an efficient manner.
  • Must be familiar with and keep up to date with industry codes and standards (such as GO95, NESC, IEEE, ASCE).
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Able to work with a variety of people, both internally and externally in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to make decisions.
  • Practices good record keeping of key project decisions and communications. Maintains consistent organization.
  • Has a mind for trying to help improve the team, whether it be ideas for new tools, changes in processes, etc.
  • Active professional engineering (PE) License is preferred.
  • Experience with designing communication lines is a plus.

The pay range for this California position is $120,000.00- $145,000.00 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
