Responsibilities

NV5 is seeking a Senior Landscape Architect to serve as Client-Contract Manager for NV5’s landscape architecture work with the New York School Construction Authority (SCA). This individual will also support the overall growth of the landscape architecture practice in New York City.

We are seeking applicants with both design and technical skills who can effectively manage an interdisciplinary team in the execution of site improvement projects for the SCA including demolition of structures, school yard reconstruction, playgrounds, sports facilities including running tracks and athletic fields, ADA compliance including Path of Travel (POT) upgrades, building code compliance, compliance with DEP stormwater management requirements.

The successful applicant will also demonstrate both a desire and ability to aid in the growth of the practice by cultivating other client relationships and participating in the writing of project proposals.  This is an opportunity to join and help grow an already successful team.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communications skills and have experience directing and mentoring individual project managers and junior staff assigned to them. This is an in-office position for a team player comfortable coordinating and collaborating with in-house professionals from allied disciplines including architects, engineers, and environmental specialists, as well as sub-consultants. The role would suit a motivated proactive individual looking to advance their career at a dynamic company that rewards those not afraid to take initiative.

SCA Client-Contract Management Responsibilities:

  • Initiate and manage standard SCA project setup and development protocols.
  • Technical oversight and QAQC of individual assignments.
  • Oversee / direct design and contract document preparation.
  • Act as a team-lead able to delegate to, motivate and mentor staff.
  • Work with interdisciplinary team of design and engineering professionals, and sub-consultants.
  • Track and manage successful financial performance on individual SCA assignments including profit margin, staff utilization rates, invoicing, and collections.

Business Development Responsibilities

  • Manage and cultivate client relationships.
  • Pursue new work, prepare proposals, negotiate fees.
  • Be familiar with typical contract requirements and industry laws around professional practice.
  • Public speaking and presentations.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience managing NYSCA assignments, 2-3+ years preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Capable of working effectively in a leadership role with minimal oversight, takes initiative.
  • Strong computer/ analytic skills, facility with spreadsheets and project management software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Auto Cad.
  • Preferred Licenses and accreditations: Licensure in New York State

The pay range for this New York position is $105k - $130k per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
