NV5 is seeking a Part-Time Health Physics Technician (8 hours a week on average) to support a project located in Erlanger, Kentucky.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine functional checks on portable radiological monitoring instruments using radioactive check sources
  • Operate measurement and calibration equipment
  • Complete data forms on a PC using Excel, Word for Windows and other instrument specific software
  • Perform minor electronic and instrument repair
  • Perform warehouse activities including moving, lifting, staging, opening and carrying packages up to 50 pounds each
  • Drive an off road vehicle to collect field measurements
  • Operate high pressure gas systems
  • Operate equipment wearing hearing protection

  • Part-time position
  • Work one 8-hour day per week
  • Be available for additional work assignments as necessary
  • Be able to work indoors or outdoors in inclement weather conditions
  • Perform routine work at the Erlanger Facility in Northern Kentucky
  • Maintain OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response training
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
  • Have good basic math skills
  • Have basic computer skills (MicroSoft products)
  • Have familiarity with Windows 7 through 10 operating systems
  • Be able to lift and move packages that weigh up to 50 pounds
  • Be able to scale ladders and platforms up to 8 feet from ground level
  • Be able to work standing for periods up to two hours at a time
  • Be able to wear hearing protection for up to two hours continuously
  • Be able to work with small radioactive sources and wear appropriate dosimetry
  • Be able to work conscientiously with sensitive measurement equipment
  • Have effective interpersonal skills and be able to work as a team member
