The Lidar Senior Analyst works to support the Lidar Team Leader(s), Associate Team Leader(s), and Technical Specialists to ensure data flow and proper tasking within the team. This individual provides oversight to technicians and other analysts in support of the team leadership. This position will work individually and as part of a team to support lidar data production in ArcMap, Microstation, and other industry-specific software packages. The Senior Analyst has knowledge of all aspects of the lidar calibration workflow and performs rigorous QA/QC. A Senior Analyst produces consistent finished products and works to develop process efficiencies and improve methodologies within the lidar calibration team. Within the Senior Analyst position, three distinct tracks will start to develop: Operations, Management, or Technical.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates leadership
  • Improves technical workflows and documents process changes
  • Takes ownership of work within the team for execution and QA/QC
  • Sets priorities and goals related to technical focus

Management Focus:

  • Assists the Associate and Team Lead with detailed tracking and evaluation of projects, ETCs, workflow management and tasking
  • Ability to understand project contracts and scope of work
  • Effectively motivates associates across all levels
  • Ability to prioritize projects and tasking within the team
  • Provides direction to associates across all levels
  • Aids in hiring new team members

Technical Focus:

  • Demonstrates good judgment in the selection of the methods and techniques in problem resolution and troubleshooting
  • Excellent lidar process understanding of both NIR and topobathymetric sensor types
  • Performs rigorous QA/QC and data finalization practices
  • Produces NIR and Topobathymetric data handoffs to various stakeholders and departments
  • Assists in development of workflow and task automation
  • Takes initiative to improve processes and efficiencies
  • Strong creative aptitude and ability to contribute to the development of the unique methods
  • Develops or introduces new platforms, interfaces and technologies
  • Can apply creative ideas in practical application
  • BETA tests new software and methodologies

Operations Focus:

  • Works with the Team Leaders and Directors to:
  • Assist in process and protocol training
  • Assist in execution of internal projects and special initiatives
  • Creation of and implementation of special programs
  • Works with the Production Coordinator to:
  • Assist in contract review
  • Support planning and scheduling of internal projects / special initiatives

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6+ months of Lidar Analyst or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a professional work environment
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience
  • Confident knowledge of ESRI or vector-based software and TerraSolid products
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering program
  • Masters or higher
  • Knowledge of most current Lidar Base Specification and other pertinent industry-guiding documentation from USGS, NOAA, etc.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a technical, professional work environment
