We are seeking a full-time Assistant Water Resources Engineer with 0 to 4 years of experience in the field, to support our Water Resources/Environmental Team in our New York City office in Lower Manhattan. NV5’s New York City office operates on a four-day work week, hybrid work schedule. Our Water Resources/Environmental Division specializes in providing stormwater management analysis & design, green infrastructure analysis & design, drainage studies, MS4 & USWR compliance and general water resources engineering in addition to environmental reviews, technical analyses, compliance with environmental regulations, and applying sustainable and resilient practices for a wide variety of projects. This individual will have a key role in a broad range of projects for both our municipal and private sector clients.

Responsibilities

  • Performing site visits to determine feasibility of green infrastructure & post-construction stormwater management practices (PCSMPs)
  • Performing calculations (in Microsoft Excel or by hand) to support the design of green infrastructure, PCSMPs, sewer and stormwater infrastructure design
  • Preparing design drawings in AutoCAD
  • Preparing permit packages for City and/or State agencies
  • Writing and reviewing technical reports
  • Field work for data gathering, surveys, and construction observations
  • Potential involvement with performing hydraulic & hydrologic modeling

Qualifications

  • A Baccalaureate degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science, planning, sustainability and/or a related field
  • 0-4 years related experience
  • Knowledge of NYC DEP’s Green Infrastructure Program & Unified Stormwater Rule is a plus
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or ArcGIS is preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel is preferred
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D is desired
  • Knowledge of modeling software, such as HydroCAD, Storm and Sanitary Analysis (SSA), InfoWorks ICM, USEPA SWMM, and HEC-RAS is desired but not required
  • Detailed oriented, excellent writing skills
  • EIT is preferred

The pay range for this New York position is $82,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
