Lead Sensor Operator

The Lead Sensor Operator acquires airborne data using LiDAR, thermal infrared, and digital multi-spectral imagery sensors The Lead Sensor Operator will also work closely with pilots while flying terrain and monitoring acquisition equipment. After acquisition, acquired data must be downloaded post mission and shipped to the production facilities. The Lead Sensor Operator also provides training and guidance to Sensor Operators. The Lead Sensor Operator works closely with the Sensor Specialists to aid in installations, as well as implementing new sensor technology and development of standard operating procedures and best practices. The current position available reports to the Acquisition management team based out of Corvallis, OR. Sensor Operators can live anywhere in the US as long as they are proximate to a mid-tier airport from which to travel.

• Acquire airborne data using LiDAR, thermal infrared and digital multi-spectral imagery
• Work closely with pilots while flying terrain and monitoring acquisition computers
• Collect, download, and ship gathered data daily after acquisition
• Extensive travel by automobile and aircraft
• Work on rotation consisting of 16 days on, followed by 12 days off
• Ensure safe and secure use of company equipment and instrumentation
• Troubleshoot instrumentation
• Perform considerate and efficient intra-team assignments
• Complete necessary field logs and data transfer duties
• Assist in sensor installations and implementation of new sensor technology
• Oversee and develop operator training programs
• Oversee and development of standard operating procedures
• Serve as a specific technical point of contact for Sensor Operators
• Established understanding and demonstrated experience with geospatial concepts and GPS survey methods
• Established experience with the majority of industry airborne remote sensing instruments
• Effective technical description (communication and documentation) of instrument and/or mission failures
• Computer proficiency
• Decision making and problem-solving abilities
• Comfortable flying in small aircraft over diverse topography

Minimum Qualifications

• 4+ years of relative experience
• A valid driver's license
• Current CPR and basic First Aid
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs

Preferred Qualifications

• 4-year degree from a physical/ biological/environmental science, engineering program or related field
