Marine Operations Technician

Geodynamics is seeking an enthusiastic Operations Technician to manage our facility and survey equipment operation. The successful candidate will be highly organized with experience in inventory systems, shop management, survey operations, and have demonstrated strong leadership skills. The Operations Technician will manage all traceability movements associated with vessels, survey equipment, facility maintenance and assist with mobilization and demobilization of survey projects at the facility. The candidate will create a strong safety culture in the facility and ensure everyone is working safely. The Operations Technician will report to the Facility and Systems Domain manager. While the facilities are primarily located in Morehead City, NC, the Operations Technician will be expected to travel to shipyards offering assistance and occasionally help projects as needed.

General

• Serve as the steward of the facility, equipment, and gear, while coordinating with Operations and Project management to ensure survey readiness
• Establish and maintain a safe working environment during shop operations; which include but are not limited to vessel mobilization, forklift operations, fabrication of survey gear, and demobilization of vessels
• Maintain safe Facility communications through placards, signage, and see that shop employees are always working safely and have all necessary PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
• High level understanding of inventory traceability systems, document control, and Management systems
• Ability to lead internal audits and identify and incorporate process improvements
• Clear writing and communications skills – ability to communicate technical information
• Time management skills – the ability to prioritize and multitaskTeamwork, leadership, and motivational skills
• On call availability outside of standard work hours

Facility

• Overseeing facility renovations, refurbishments, and building projects
• General upkeep, organization, and cleanliness
• Oversee security needs

Vessels, Vehicles, Equipment, Survey Gear

• Ensures that all equipment and vessels in the facility are cleaned, repaired, stored, calibrated, and ready for the next project
• Work with PM, IT/ET, and field teams to maintain inventory and status of all equipment and gear

Inventory and Stock

• Manage all survey equipment and tools
• Document all status changes of moving inventory
• Purchase all Vessel consumables based on future project needs
• Purchase all facility consumables based on usage trends

Health, Safety, and Environment

• Ensure that the facility is maintained and meets standards and government regulations (OSHA)
• Manage forklift operations, overhead loads and hoist, tool management, ladder safety, inventory supplies
