We have an opportunity for a talented civil engineering manager/technical lead to join us as our new Sr. Civil Group Manager – EV/Clean Transportation.  This position can be based anywhere in the US/full-time remote. Our Sr. Civil Group Manager – EV/Clean Transportation will lead & support the growth of our civil national EV/clean transportation projects nationwide.


You will have the opportunity to plan and conduct work that requires keen judgement and can devise new approaches to solve design problems and oversee assigned projects. You will be leading teams in planning, engineering, design, construction, and utility industry consulting on complex projects for local and national clients.


As our Sr. Civil Group Manager, you will be actively involved in the business development process. You will plan, schedule, and conduct/coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work on projects of moderate scope, or in a part of a major project. You will perform work that may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements. You may often serve as a contact for clients, contractors, and other professionals. You may also serve as project leader and are expected to coordinate the team’s work by providing direction to less-experienced designers and engineers and assisting in staff development.

Responsibilities

Other responsibilities not limited but may include:



  • Lead and contribute to engineering teams in the delivery of EV/EVSE infrastructure including planning, design, commissioning, and consulting on complex projects.

  • Demonstrate strong design capabilities such as: Site planning, zoning, and special use permits; development of construction plans; off-site improvements; utility relocations; permitting; and construction phase services.

  • Collaborate across verticals to enable smooth project phase transitions.

  • Track PE licensure by state to ensure necessary qualifications are met on a project-by-project basis.

  • Be responsive and proactive, managing engineering activities to comply with budgets and schedules; identify departures or issues early to meet client expectations for technical excellence, budget, and schedule.

  • Perform work that involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment. Will be assigned to project teams and may make major design recommendations.

  • Coordinate all design work with other team disciplines.

  • Participate in training and mentoring staff as appropriate.

  • Design, manage, and assist in production of construction documents, including plans, specifications, and quantity takeoffs.

  • Provide quality assurance checks on drawing packages and calculations prepared by others.

  • Participate in business development activity including preparation of proposals for new work.

  • Develop and maintain client relationships.

  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge of relevant local codes and industry standards.

  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge of appropriate electrical, building mechanical and plumbing systems.

  • May prepare addendums, proposal requests and change orders; initiate additional service requests and coordinate with project managers for client submittal.

  • May prepare engineering opinion of probable cost for relevant systems and review construction manager/contractor cost estimates.

  • Participate in technical and professional societies as applicable.

  • Interpret and apply client, company, and field standards as needed.

Qualifications

We are seeking the following qualifications:



  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in multiple states.

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, such as General Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.

  • 8+ years’ experience relative to Civil Engineering design projects such as: Site planning, zoning, and special use permits; development of construction plans; off-site improvements; utility relocations; permitting; and construction phase services, site design, horizontal control, mass grading, detailed grading design experience.

  • 3+ years of EV infrastructure civil design experience is strongly preferred including coordination with grading, drainage, and utilities design, for site specific development or subdivision work, roadway design, public and private.

  • Knowledge of other renewable technologies that may be integrated into the design such as battery energy storage systems (BESS), Microgrids, and Solar PV is a plus.

  • Experience using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project scheduling software.

  • 3+ years’ experience managing and mentoring staff.


For candidates based in California position is $160,000 – 180,000 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
