Overview

NV5 is seeking a Senior Site Assessment and Remediation Professional to join our team of site assessment and remediation experts as a Business Unit Leader in our Novato, California office.  This technical leadership position is responsible for the office operations and management.  Ideal candidate is a technical seller-doer with a proven track record of leading growth, developing client relationships, managing teams, and serving as a senior technical expert.

Responsibilities

  • Leading, managing, hiring, and mentoring technical staff to help them grow their careers as experts
  • Growing client relationships through consultative technical sales to develop projects and drive business growth
  • Operational budgets and P&L
  • Directing and performing field studies, data gathering and sampling activities at sites including indoor air, soil vapor, soil and groundwater sampling, groundwater flow and hydrogeological data evaluation, vapor intrusion assessment, chemical data and contaminant fate and transport evaluation, well installation, aquifer testing, and groundwater monitoring, groundwater, soil vapor and soil remediation evaluation, environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permit acquisition
  • Managing contaminated site assessment/remediation; hydrogeology; and environmental risk management studies and services
  • Engineering remediation system design including vapor intrusion mitigation systems VIMS and other remediation systems
  • Interfacing directly with clients to understand client needs and develop proposals, scope, costs, schedule and budgets
  • Leading, preparing, directing and reviewing technical reports, proposals and cost estimates
  • Responsible for quality control review of proposals and reports written by others

Qualifications

You are qualified for this position if you are a proven technical expert and knowledgeable seller/doer with strong inter-personal communication skills.  You have successfully led teams and managed client relationships resulting in business growth. Your natural leadership style fosters trust and rapport with clients, regulators and your team. You are high-energy achievement oriented with an entrepreneurial spirit.  You are a leader who excels in a collaborative team environment of like-minded experts and are recognized by your peers for the ability to interpret technical and analytical data and present it in a clear concise and understandable reports and graphics for clients (the layperson). You will promote our brand and build business through interaction with prospects and clients, high quality work, publications, and technical presentations.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university in chemical/civil/environmental engineering or related engineering field and at least 10+ years of demonstrated consulting experience in California.
  • A Professional Engineering (PE) Registration in California or a registration in Geology (PG) or Hydrogeology (CHG) is REQUIRED.
  • Operational knowledge of computer databases and office programs (MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word).
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare reports and proposals.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills a must.
  • Project team management oversight and leadership ability.
