Directors in the Power Delivery group report to the Vice President of Operations. They proactively lead and direct their unit in executing all short- and long-term initiatives, which include: business development, client satisfaction, financial management, operations management, and employee advancement. Incumbents are instrumental in the planning, prioritizing, and implementing of key initiatives.
The Director of Renewables and Battery Storage in Power Delivery will lead and support all short and long term initiatives for consulting services in the renewable energy, energy storage, microgrid, and transportation electrification sectors. This includes leading projects that are initiated within the Power vertical and supporting project teams in other NV5 verticals. The Director will serve as a subject matter expert in technology applications and engineering support services across these sectors. Some of the major tasks include: business development, client satisfaction, financial management, operations management and technological advancement for the service line. They are instrumental in the planning and organization of all work associated with renewable energy, energy storage systems, microgrids, and transportation electrification, within Power Delivery and across NV5. They provide inspirational leadership by attracting, retaining, motivating, and developing high caliber talent. They cultivate a constructive workplace culture that encourages collaboration and teamwork, positive attitude, and provides ongoing improvement to the quality of services provided to clients.

Experience
Minimum of ten years total experience with a consulting engineering firm, utility, EPC contractor, project developer, or vendor in the renewable energy, energy storage, and/or microgrid fields such as engineering, construction, asset management, commissioning, product development, inspections, or related field; one to three years in a management role (supervisor), three to five years in a technical leadership role (project manager, project engineer, or discipline lead).
For this specific role, the individual must have direct experience in the renewable energy and power delivery industries. This individual should have a strong grasp on the general trajectory of the industry and be aware of current and upcoming industry policy changes that affect renewable energy, storage, microgrids, and vehicle electrification. Familiarity with the standard of quality demanded by power and utility clients is required. This role requires experience with quality assurance checks in order to uphold high internal and external quality standards. This position also requires the ability to view projects and problems from a high level in order to provide clients with the best quality suggestions or solutions. Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional interpersonal skills are required for this position.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a combination of a Bachelor’s degree and demonstrated competency in one of the above-mentioned fields.
Master’s degree or higher is desired but not required.
Licensure and Credentials
Certification or registration in the professional field in which qualified, such as professional engineer registration, is desired but not required (US state or national certification/registration). Ability to obtain registration or certification in additional US states, is desired as well but not required.
Obligations
Participate as a key contributor in Power Delivery Workload meetings, Business Development meetings, Group Leader meetings, Strategic Development meetings, and National Power Group Business Development meetings. Be aware of future project resource requirements based on marketing efforts and successes within Power Delivery. Maintain contact with other Directors and Group Managers to anticipate work load.
This is an exempt (salaried) position that requires an average obligation of 45 hours or more per week.
