NV5, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven Pipeline Designer to assist our design efforts for projects related to pipelines, pump stations, regulator stations, meter stations, compressor station projects. This job requires interaction within the design group and disciplines and our client, in a team environment to create multi-discipline design packages for construction forces. Drawings to be created include alignment sheets, property plats and permit drawings for small, mid-sized and large scale oil & gas projects, as well as site civil grading plans.


  • Assist engineers with initial design and drawing requirements
  • Plan and prepare preliminary layouts and detailed design drawings from engineering notes, sketches, and/or other drawings
  • Research and obtain standards/codes required by clients and jurisdictions and ensure drawings comply
  • Efficiently design and draft the following using AutoCAD Civil 3D and CADWorx
  • Alignment Sheets
  • HDD drawings
  • Various permit drawings
  • Optional: Site Grading, Soil Erosion, Drainage, etc. Plans
  • Complete drawing/project responsibilities within scope, budget and schedule
  • Review drawings for completeness, accuracy and quality
  • Assist junior designers and junior engineers
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Delegation of tasks
  • Training where required
  • Checking work, including verifying work is done to client specifications and standards
  • Communicate well within a group
  • Organize/maintain all revisions of project drawings, plot files and project-related information in a logical and well-structured manner
  • Use third party applications to generate drawing based on specific project requirements
  • Work closely with management and design staff to coordinate efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed
  • Ask questions as topics arise


  • 3 - 6 years of experience (or Associates Degree & 2 years of experience) in civil drafting/design drawings.
  • Candidates must have experience with oil and gas design
  • CADWorx experience is required.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil3D
