The Construction Multi-Licensed Inspector is responsible for field inspections during construction, alterations or repairs on all types of structures in order to enforce the Florida Building Code compliance. Additional responsibilities include review of amendments and other changes to construction documents.

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with all project related construction documents and submittals.
  • Perform inspections on all assigned construction projects during construction including final inspection. Inspections will depend on the license held by the employee. Pay grade also depends on the number of licenses held by the employee (Structural, Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing). Inspections (depending on the license held) consist of inspecting foundations, parking lots, pedestrian egress, utility systems, structural elements of buildings, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Monitor quality and progress of construction projects. Issue reports on same day.

Qualifications

  • Education/Qualifications:
    • Graduation from a standard high school or an equivalent diploma.
    • Computer Skills – Basic understanding and knowledge of use of current technology, as required for the position. Experience in Data Entry and Microsoft Word.
    • Five years of comprehensive, verifiable experience as a commercial building code inspector and/or plans examiner, licensed building contractor, graduate architect, or Florida registered architect
  • Certifications/Licenses:
    • Must be a certified Standard Building Code Inspector in one or more of the following classifications: Building/Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, or Fire in accordance with Chapter 468 Part XII of the Florida Statutes. Multi-discipline is a plus.
