    NV5 is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Arlington Texas office and service our clients locally in the Southwest Region. Support for national clients may also be needed on occasion as project needs dictate. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and well versed in facility engineering, construction and operations. The markets served include education, healthcare, commercial, government and transportation. The primary job responsibilities will include leading and contributing to commissioning, retro-commissioning, and energy engineering projects. Knowledge and strong understanding of building mechanical systems, building controls systems and testing adjusting and balancing required.

    Responsibilities

    • Primary: Field lead commissioning engineer and field engineer for the execution of commissioning, retro-commissioning and energy engineering projects.
    • Support the execution of facility engineering projects.
    • Provide support and coordination on small to medium size projects to meet client expectations for technical excellence, budget and schedule.
    • Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors and other project team members.
    • Support Business Development retention activities: Develop and maintain client relationships and assist in preparation of proposals as needed.

    Qualifications

    • 5 to 8 years of HVAC testing and operations experience required.
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
    • PE considered a plus, ability to get PE preferred
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential.
    • Ability to read and understand construction documents (mechanical drawings, specifications, etc.) required.
    • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems required.
    • Working knowledge of control systems required
    • Experience in diagnosing and solving construction and operational problems required.
    • Basic understanding of other building systems is required (fire/life safety, plumbing, lighting, security).
    • Experience with MS Office Suite required.
    • Commissioning Certification considered a plus.
    • Test and Balance Certification considered a plus.
    • Energy Management Certification considered a plus.
    • Working Knowledge of Trane Trace or eQUEST is considered a plus.
    • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit is considered a plus.
    • Creativity, curiosity and problem solving ability is essential.
    • Physical ability to work on construction jobsites and climb stairs required.
    • Ability and willingness to travel.
