    Responsibilities

    • Performs complex plan reviews of building additions, alterations, and new construction for compliance with building and local ordinances, state laws, and other regulations and standards.
    • Prepares written correction letters.
    • Approve plans that meet code and ordinance requirements.
    • Confer with architects, engineers, contractors, and others regarding features of plans found to be out of conformance with code or where proposed design or materials are clearly unacceptable.
    • Outline, clearly, reasons for non-conformance of plans.
    • Maintains and updates records and database information when requested.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
    • International Code Council Certification: Building Plans Examiner, multiple trades preferred.
    • California State License as a Professional Engineer is a positive, but not required.
    • Three to five years of experience performing complex plan reviews for commercial and industrial projects.
    • Knowledge of principles and methods of building construction.
    • Knowledge of methods and materials used in building construction and structural design.
    • Knowledge of International and California Building Codes.
    • Ability to read, understand, interpret, and explain blueprints, building plans, specifications, and engineering calculations.
    • Ability to distinguish between the intent of applicable rules and the letter of the law.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative.
    • Microsoft Word.
    • Adobe Acrobat.
    • Deltek Vision.
    • Computer knowledge and basic word processing experience a must.
    • Valid California Driver License.
