    NV5 is recruiting for a Temporary RCT for work within a 10 mile radius of Richland, WA. This is a Potential Future Opportunity.

    The Radiological Control Technician will have a passion for radiological worker safety to help our clients achieve success in the safety of their operations. This is a temporary RCT position that will provide radiological control functions including contamination and radiation control, conduct and document radiological surveys, establish area radiological postings, conduct are radiological monitoring for control purposes and radiological characterization and track radiological exposures for access control.

    • Required responsibilities of this position are:
    • Provide radiological control support during low-level radiological remediation operations.
    • Review and submit appropriate documentation.
    • Ensure personnel have the appropriate radiological safety training.
    • Ensure project activities are conducted in accordance with job-specific radiological requirements.
    • Perform dose rate and contamination surveys and monitoring.
    • Maintain a strong field presence in project activities.
    • Excellent verbal and written skills.

    Potential responsibilities of this position are:

    • Identify radiological hazards, recommend hazard mitigation strategies, prepare and review Radiological Work Permits.
    • Provide recommended radiological engineering controls to project personnel.
    • Provide leadership to less experienced RCTs.


    • Radiological Control Technician
    • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
    • Qualified as a DOE Senior RCT or ANSI 3.1 Senior Health Physics Technician (HPT).
    • Senior RCT requires a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Radiological Control Technician or equivalent education and experience and achieving qualifications as DOE Senior RCT or ANSI 3.1 Senior HPT.
    • Current valid driver’s license and ability to operate a vehicle is required.
    • Must be able to work in radiological areas.
    • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position.
    • Five or more years of previous commercial nuclear facility experience as an RCT, and/or previous experience as a DOE Senior RCT.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT).
    • Associate’s Degree in Health Physics, Radiological Safety, or closely related safety field.
    • Experience working in commercial nuclear fuels facilities.

    Working Conditions:

    • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
    • The worker is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures typically below 32°F for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.
    • The worker is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100°F for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.
    • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
    • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
    • The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation.

    Physical Requirements:
    Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

    Background Check / Drug Screening:
    Candidates who are proposed will be required to complete a background check, driving record, and drug screen prior to being hired.

    Verification of education will be required prior to employment.

    Medical Requirements:
    Candidates may be subject to baseline medical monitoring depending upon client requirements.
