    We are seeking a Civil Engineer for infrastructure projects, systems and equipment for U.S. Department of Energy and other federal, state and local clients. Applicants will be expected to identify requirements of and create specifications for infrastructure projects; industrial power equipment; read and interpret schematics, specifications for civil engineering projects, and technical reports. This is a future potential opportunity.

    Responsibilities

    • Review and check drawings to ensure that designs meet the technical needs of customers and adhere to industry standards for compliance, reliability and safety.
    • Interface with potential vendors to verify qualifications and references.
    • Supervise equipment manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and start-up and identify and monitor project milestones.
    • Apply civil engineering principals to projects to troubleshoot and solve problems.
    • Perform engineering studies and alternative analyses.
    • Review and/or develop functional requirements and design criteria documents.
    • Evaluate pre-conceptual and conceptual designs/concept sketches.
    • Evaluate or provide input to procurement specifications and statements of work for detailed engineering designs for civil projects.
    • Provide input to project schedule development for engineering deliverables.
    • Oversee design subcontractors.
    • Conduct design reviews.
    • Engineering support during construction including field walk downs, issue resolution, and design changes.
    • Interface with internal and external customers and end-users.
    • Evaluate as-built drawings and support project close-out.
    • Assist with the development of test procedures and conduct or oversee qualification testing

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university.
    • Demonstrated ability to perform at the professional level with at least 5 or more years of civil/structural related design experience.
    • Recent experience with civil/structural projects.
    • Good knowledge of civil engineering codes and standards, principles and practices, and design evaluation techniques.
    • Good communication and presentation skills to properly communicate information to peers, customers, vendors, and management.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational, planning and problem-solving/troubleshooting skills.
    • Ability to multi-task on several projects in parallel in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong commitment to providing superior customer service.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point; Computer-aided design/drafting proficiency a plus but not required.
    • Strong work ethic.
    • Previous Hanford experience desirable.
    • Experience working under nuclear quality requirements a plus.
    • Structural analysis experience is desirable


    Certifications/Licenses:

    • Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) License or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is a plus but not required
