    RDK, an NV5 company, RDK, an NV5 company, is looking for a CAD Manager to oversee the set-up/update tasks for the Boston office and to supervise the staff assigned to these tasks. This position must also ensure that all HelpDesk support issues for the Boston design staff are properly addressed and resolved. The CAD Manager also oversees the CAD/Revit procedures in the Boston office to ensure that engineering standards are consistently applied to CAD/Revit designs.

    Responsibilities

    • Supervise the Boston CAD Tech/Set-up staff; includes coordinating staff’s daily assignments and work flow to ensure that project set-ups and updates are completed in a timely manner for all B Group projects; performs CAD/Revit work as needed to meet B Group deadlines.
    • Conducts staff performance reviews and ongoing performance meetings throughout the year. Coaches, trains and mentors staff as needed.
    • Assist Boston staff with resolving technical issues related to design technologies through our HelpDesk system, including: CAD/Revit problems, PDF conversion/creation problems, file corruptions, etc. 
    • Communicate with clients and external parties to resolve file issues, determine file directions, and provide specific file services to our clients. 
    • Conduct CAD/Revit skills assessments for Boston candidates being interviewed and conduct new employee CAD/Revit orientations and trainings.
    • Communicate with the Corporate Design Technology/BIM Manager on a variety of CAD/Revit-related issues and standards. 
    • Implement new CAD/Revit standards that have been established by the Corporate Design Technology/BIM Manager; suggest and assist in developing standards when appropriate. 
    • Instruct all CAD staff on client CAD/Revit standards and RDK standards. 
    • Assist in the training and skills development of staff through training seminars, verbal instruction, and bringing new technical developments in-house; this includes: training staff in Newforma, Bluebeam, and other emerging technologies. 
    • Assist in the transition of new design technology platforms, such as AutoCAD and Revit, during roll out efforts to RDK Boston staff. 
    • Handle inspection and correction of files to client CAD/Revit standards as needed. 
    • Communicate with outside vendors for maintenance of plotting equipment; advise RDK managers on equipment upgrades when appropriate. 
    • Oversee the completion of PC/workstation set-up. 
    • Other duties include: ordering and stocking of plotter paper, verification of linear footage used by plotters, blueprint-making, photocopying, plotting, scanning, packaging, mailing, and other miscellaneous duties which may be required from time to time to assist in smooth operation of the Boston office. 
    • May provide back-up to RDK’s IS Department on an occasional basis with basic computer troubleshooting activities. 
    • Communicate effectively with coworkers, vendors, and clients. 
    • May perform other duties to meet the operational needs of the firm. 

    Qualifications

    • Must have formal training in AutoCAD and Revit set-up and development. 
    • Must be proficient in the operation of a computer and CAD systems, specifically recent versions of AutoCAD and Revit. 
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
    • Prior work experience in a consulting engineering field preferred. 
    • Prior experience supervising staff members preferred. 
    • Associate’s Degree or CAD Certificate Program preferred.
