You will work on challenging assignments that include investigating, trouble-shooting, and solving a wide variety of distribution planning and design projects to improve circuit reliability. Electrical engineering theory and adherence to utility standards is critical, with civil engineering often playing a role for underground trenching and overhead structure solutions.


In this job, you will:

  • Meet with and coordinate with a variety of client departments and work forces 
  • Prepare technical calculation reports and construction documents meeting client and NV5 requirements.
  • Develop your career via peer-learning through sharing of knowledge with other experienced engineers and train and mentoring junior staff. 
  • Travel to client sites as needed.


  • A BSEE, BSCE, or related engineering degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program is required.
  • Experience with electric utility design and equipment specifications, particularly 4kV and 12kV, is strongly preferred
  • Two (2) or more years’ progressive experience in the power delivery field, working at or for electric utilities, designing both overhead and underground distribution system improvements, repairs, and expansion


  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE / EIT) examination is a plus.
