RDK, An NV5 Company, is looking for a Telecommunications Engineer for its Boston, MA office.


In this position, you will support the development of plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates on a number of concurrent projects. Ideal candidates will have five (5) or more years of telecommunications design experience in the AEC industry.


  • Design and layout of engineering drawings to meet design contract agreements
  • Take conceptual design requirements and create final design documents
  • Perform calculations and utilize various Microsoft and third party software packages related to the design
  • Assist in the preparation of studies, performing field surveys, documenting existing conditions, and/or recommending various design solutions
  • Perform CAD functions in discipline
  • Perform equipment takeoffs for calculation and estimating purposes
  • Participate in construction inspections and the documentation of conditions that require remediation


  • An associate’s degree in a related field or significant related experience in the field
  • A minimum of 5 years of specific on-the-job experience in telecommunications design within the consulting
  • engineering field including developing plans and specifications in his/her technical specialty
  • May possess certification in the telecommunications industry (BICSI RCDD)
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of telecommunications systems design
  • Ability to apply knowledge of telecommunications systems available, including equipment, control systems and associated architectural conditions
  • Formal training in AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit preferred
    Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • BICSI RCDD preferred
