Under supervision, prepares HVAC and Plumbing design drawings and specifications for new construction, existing facilities expansion, and renovation projects. Projects will be of moderate complexity. Design requirements will be defined by verbal instructions, sketches, and/or formal documents. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Obtains basic data from documents, occupant interviews, and field measurements. 
  • Prepares floor plans, site plans, and other drawings for small construction and remodel projects using computer aided drafting techniques. 
  • Compiles specifications and contract documents from existing sources for assigned projects. 
  • Performs field review of existing facilities to determine and verify relevant services and site layout, and to coordinate construction with plans and specifications. 
  • Responsible for basic system sizing and layout, selection of components for systems.
  • Utilizes AutoCAD, Architectural Desktop and/or Revit equipment and maintains current knowledge of CAD technology principles and applications. 
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of design experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Proven ability to perform the duties specified with prior project experience at an equivalent level of responsibility.
  • Certificate of Competency in Architectural Drafting preferred.
  • Ability to collect field data and accurately record findings. 
  • Ability to prepare floor, site, and other architectural plans using CAD drafting techniques. 
  • Skill in the use of CAD equipment and software. 
  • Ability to perform field review and make necessary adjustments to conform to job specifications. 
  • Ability to perform system design functions.
  • Knowledge of contract documents and specifications.
