NV5 is looking for a Project Accountant to fill an immediate opening in its St. Paul office. This person will be working with project managers in multiple states and with another project accountant in the St. Paul office.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and Maintaining project master data including: 
  • Client and sub-consultant contracts, scope changes, invoices with all supporting documentation and expense backup uploaded in project record with originals filed in accounting. 
  • Record and file all negotiated credits, write-offs, claim payments or other labor and expense adjustments on projects.
  • Project/plan compensation, base line planned bill, WBS and labor and expense rates. 
  • Labor and expense transfers between projects, phases and tasks.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate weekly billings within contractual guidelines.
  • Review of project rates, compensation for compliance with contract.
  • Setup or review of billing terms and revenue defaults based on a thorough analysis of contract terms.
  • Review prior to first invoice with project manager and/or client to establish timely billing cycle, invoice format and client invoicing requirements such as forms, billing summary data or other submittals to be completed by PA other than technical reports to be completed by PM.
  • Complete accounting closeout including any appropriate forms once all conditions have been met.
  • Reviewing revenue based on established revenue earning formulas with each project manager at meetings on a monthly basis.
  • Review and enter comments on current revenue to identify potential issues or problem areas and recommend changes to revenue to project managers or Controller.
  • Reviewing accounts receivable and provide monthly comments.
  • Provide project managers and Controller with recommendations when unbilled or aged receivables need to be addressed.
  • Work with project managers and client AP departments to facilitate collections with clients per AR policy.
  • Approving invoices for all sub-consultants after review of billing against contract limits and verify PM has approved invoice and invoice has been sent to AP.
  • Assisting in risk assessment; alert Controller and project manager to potential risks.

 

Qualifications

  • 2-7 years in a project accountant or similar role preferred
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting preferred
  • Deltek Vision experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate with all employees across all levels of the company
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
