NV5 is currently seeking a Commissioning Specialist to service our clients in primarily located in Western PA and surrounding areas. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and well versed on building HVAC, mechanical and electrical systems, and facilities operations for healthcare, educational, commercial and government buildings. Will also have design of building and utility plant electrical systems and be versed in AutoCad. The candidate would ideally be located in Western PA or NE Ohio.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to engineering teams in the delivery of mechanical systems commissioning, energy and consulting on complex projects for local and national clients.
  • Perform site construction observations, develop functional test plans and execute tests for a wide variety of mechanical systems.
  • Perform or assist in all commissioning tasks such as: design reviews, OPR/BOD reviews, development of specifications, development of commissioning plans, review construction material submittals, develop pre-functional test procedures, review start-up and O&M documentation, systems manual development, oversee owner training, writing of final report and warranty phase review, as well as other commissioning related tasks
  • Execute or support engineering/energy studies for national and international clients
  • Manage and execute commissioning, retro-commissioning and energy projects.
  • Execute small to large projects to meet client expectations for technical excellence, budget and schedule.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors and other project team members.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in building mechanical systems, testing and balancing, building automation control systems, and/or energy studies and/or commissioning for large complex buildings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering – PE or EIT a plus but not required
  • Experience in diagnosing and solving construction and operational problems.
  • Knowledge of building codes and construction industry standards.
  • Familiarity with building mechanical, electrical and life safety systems.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite.

 

Certifications/Licenses:

  • LEED Accredited Professional is a plus
  • NEBB or ACG certification is a plus.
