Under supervision, prepares design drawings and specifications for new construction, existing facilities expansion, and renovation projects.  Projects will be of moderate to difficult complexity.  Design requirements will be defined by verbal instructions, sketches, and/or formal documents. Able to work without immediate supervision and able to understand project scope and contract requirements.

 

Responsibilities

  • Communication with internal staff, clients, and other consultants/disciplines.
  • Obtains basic data from documents, occupant interviews, and field measurements.
  • With moderate oversight, prepares floor plans, site plans, and other drawings for new construction and remodel projects using computer aided drafting or BIM/Revit techniques.
  • With moderate oversight, compiles Master Format Division 27 specifications and contract documents from existing sources for assigned projects.
  • Assists in the performance of field reviews of existing facilities to determine and verify relevant services and site layout, and to coordinate construction with plans and specifications.
  • Responsible for assisting with sizing and layout of technology rooms and selection of components for a full technology design system.
  • Responsible creation of a full telecommunications design package with moderate direction and assistance.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • With assistance from senior level staff, applies project scope and contract requirements to project deliverables.
  • Works within scope and budget for project tasks.
  • Prioritize workload to meet deadlines as scheduled.
  • Utilizes AutoCAD and/or Revit applications and maintains current knowledge of CAD technology principles and applications.
  • Ability to assist in creating technology AutoCAD and BIM/Revit Standards for the technology department.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 2 to 5 years of design experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Proven ability to perform the duties specified with prior project experience at an equivalent level of responsibility.
  • Ability to assist in the collection of field data and accurately record findings.
  • Ability to prepare floor, site, and other architectural plans using CAD drafting techniques with moderate supervision.
  • Ability to assist with performing field reviews and make necessary adjustments to conform to job specifications.
  • Ability to perform system design functions with moderate supervision.
  • Knowledge of contract documents and specifications.
  • Able to communicate with project team, both internal and external.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask between different assignments.
  • Ability navigate, organize and correctly file electronic documents in project folders utilizing a standard structured naming and filing system.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Certificate of Competency in Architectural Drafting preferred.
