Group Manager – Electrical Distribution/Transmission – Hybrid/San Diego, CA

Additionally, we specialize in designing conversions from overhead electrical distribution to underground systems, offering comprehensive electrical distribution planning services, alignment studies, route cost comparisons, and electrical asset siting services.

 

As our Group Manager you will provide leadership oversight of the design and construction of electric distribution & transmission projects. You will work with team to secure, manage, and deliver projects from new and existing clients. Your experience in public utility design and construction, as well as experience with business management, will help our group provide best in class support to our clients.

Responsibilities

Product Delivery

  • Assign and monitor the performance of technical resources within the group
  • Coordinate resource availability with contract backlog; borrow or loan resources as required to ensure a balance of resources and backlog
  • Manage the total flow of work through the group’s workforce, ensuring compliance with client expectations of cost, schedule, and quality
  • Develop, maintain, and apply a rigorous program of quality assurance and quality control; be responsible for quality breaches; perform project post-mortems; design and apply corrective actions as required

Staff Development

  • Participate in group hiring requisition process
  • Develop staff resources in support of the requirements of the function, discipline, and service lines
  • Set and manage group goals in support of service line and corporate goals
  • Train, motivate, and provide mentoring and professional development for group staff

Financial Management

  • Ensure monthly compliance with budget values for individual and group utilization
  • Monitor progress of projects within the group
  • Maximize Vision as an effective project and resource management tool (i.e., project setup and updates, resource planning and utilization, budget monitoring).
  • Review and approve timesheets and expense reports on a weekly basis

Business Development

 

  • Monitor Go/No Go deliberations for group opportunities, participate as appropriate
  • Participate in proposal preparation, as appropriate
  • Participate in consultant selection interview preparation and rehearsals
  • Participate in inter-geography pursuits as appropriate
  • Monitor sales goal compliance
  • Work with Vice President and Director to identify and develop market opportunities that are strategically aligned with client marketing plans
  • Cultivate effective relationships with clients, vendors, and contractors

Qualifications

If you possess the following experience & qualifications, then we would love to learn more about you!

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, sustainability, or relevant field or a combination or a Bachelor’s degree and equivalent experience
  • Certification or registration in professional field, such as PE, with the ability to obtain registration in additional states, as required
  • 4 to 10 years of experience in the technical consulting field, such as engineering, construction management, facilities management, architecture, sustainability, commissioning, or related field with progressive responsibilities and at least one year of experience in a technical leadership role
  • Direct experience in the power industry. Familiarity with the standards and quality demanded by power and utility clients is required.

The pay range for this California position is $130,000.00- $160,000.00 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
