Overview

NV5 Geospatial is actively recruiting a Full Stack Data Engineer. Potential candidates must possess the expertise, knowledge, and capability to develop visualization software to understand data through event and relationship modeling, independently.  Candidates must also be familiar with ESRI ArcGIS environments. The engineer will be based in US Army Garrison – Miami/US Southern Command. US citizenship, along with the ability to successfully pass a basic background check for access to US military bases, is required for employment. Successful candidate will be required to obtain TS/SCI clearance.

 

Work Environment:

  • Location: US Army Garrison – Miami/US Southern Command
  • Travel < 20% of the time

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize data integration pipelines, API services, and front-end interfaces for accessing and visualizing geospatial and structured data.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in DataLakes platforms such as Databricks, Kubernetes, ESRI ArcGIS environments, and cloud-based data engineering.
  • Expertise in building scalable, secure web applications, implementing metadata-driven search and retrieval features, and integrating APIs for seamless data interoperability is  required.
  • Solve and articulate complex problems through application design, product development, and use experiences.
  • Collaborate with other programmers and developers to ensure progress.
  • Leverage the knowledge of peers to better understand trend and technology adoption patterns.
  • Develop and deploy full-stack applications that enable data visualization, dashboarding, and analytics within ESRI-based GIS platforms, Unity Catalog, and cloud-based databases.
  • Implement RESTful and GraphQL APIs for seamless data retrieval and integration between Data Lake, ESRI ArcGIS, and external sources.
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments in Kubernetes, and API authentication mechanisms to ensure secure access to research products.
  • Optimize database queries and indexing strategies for large-scale geospatial and structured datasets.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field, or five (5) years of equivalent experience in full-stack development and data engineering.

  • Experience with the following technologies: Python, Grunt, Node, AngularJS, ArangoDB, SQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, RDBMS.

  • Working knowledge of the following databases: Elastic, Dgraph, ArangoDB, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.

  • Proficient in Data Lakes platforms such as Databricks, Kubernetes, and cloud-based data engineering.

  • Expertise in building scalable, secure web applications, implementing metadata-driven search and retrieval features, and integrating APIs for seamless data interoperability is required.

  • Working knowledge of Esri ArcGIS Enterprise systems.

Experience/Skills Preferred (in addition to requirements):

  • Portuguese or Spanish language skills.

  • Active TC/SCI clearance.

  • AWS Certified Data Analytics –Specialty

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate

  • ESRI ArcGIS Developer Certification
