Job Summary: NV5 is seeking a mid-level water resources engineer with 5-10 years of experience to join our municipal services team in San Diego. This position would support our Southern California project managers and would include working on a variety of projects to support drainage design and review tasks.  We are looking for motivated individuals who enjoy collaborating as part of a larger team.

Responsibilities

 

Primary Duties will include:

  • Preparation of drainage studies, hydromodification analysis, detention basin analysis, and assisting in preparation of design plans for civil engineering projects.
  • Performing third-party reviews of other consultants' drainage and water quality reports, and SWPPPs.
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis using programs such as AES, CivilDesign, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, WSPG, and StormCAD.
  • Preparation of letter proposals, attending client meetings, and assisting the team with business development opportunities.

Secondary duties may include:

  • Preparation of FEMA Letters of Map Revision (CLOMRs/LOMRs)
  • Preparation/Review of Storm Water Quality Management Plans (SWQMPs)
  • Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) preparation/review

Qualifications

 

  • Possess a Bachelor’s or higher Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • PE license in California
  • 3+ years preparing Drainage Reports in Southern California
  • Applicant must have a strong knowledge of both County and City of San Diego hydrologic and hydraulic requirements for development projects and understand the current hydromodification requirements under the current County of San Diego MS4 permit
  • Experienced in Rational Method calculation and basin routing calculations
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, ArcGIS, HEC programs,  PondPack, and SWMM is desired.

 

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Floodplain Manager Certification by ASFPM (preferred).

The pay range for this position in California is $104,000 to $125,000 per year. Base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
