Responsibilities

  • Perform process design for LNG, Propane, and other natural gas related facilities
  • Establish process requirements to accomplish project goals with input from Project Manager, other disciplines and customer representatives
  • Conduct process modeling and perform necessary engineering calculation to design and size process equipment
  • Size, specify, request quotes for and select major process equipment 
  • Work with equipment suppliers during design and fabrication process to ensure acceptance of final product.  FAT (factory-acceptance test) attendance is often required
  • Support Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and Piping & Instrumentation Drawing (P&ID) development
  • Support other disciplines with process design, equipment selection, and operation needs
  • Participate in cross discipline design review and process hazard analysis (PHA) evaluations
  • Support/develop sequence of operation (SOO), alarm list, and interlock documents for use in controls programming, system checkout, and project documentation
  • Support project start up and commissioning activities, including develop and oversee commissioning plan, prepare operating procedures, and process checkout/performance testing 
  • Evaluate existing / operating processes for the purposes of troubleshooting, optimization, and/or expansion
  • Prepare and conduct training for customer operations staff
  • Travel locally and nationally to customer locations and project sites for evaluations, troubleshooting efforts or commissioning activities. Typical travel is 15%-20% of the time
  • Display a strong commitment to safety – for yourself and for others

Qualifications

Specific Knowledge & Skills

  • Good technical writing, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and build relationships with co-workers, customer and vendors
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, clients, vendors and subcontractors
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint
  • Experience with Process Modeling software a plus
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities and manage deadlines
  • Ability to work safely around operating equipment and active construction sites

Education and/or Experience

  • BS degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE, EIT / FE) a plus
  • 10+ years-experience in process engineering preferred
