About the Role:
NV5 is seeking several Senior Radiation Protection Technicians to support radiological
operations at support radiological operations at DOE, NRC, and state-licensed sites across the
U.S. This role is critical in ensuring safe and compliant handling of radioactive materials and
maintaining high standards of radiation protection across various site activities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct radiation control activities supporting maintenance, decontamination, hazardous material shipping, and compliance operations.
  • Perform radiological surveys (radiation, contamination, airborne radioactivity) and document findings.
  • Execute release surveys for materials, equipment, and property transitioning from controlled to uncontrolled areas.
  • Evaluate radiological conditions and post appropriate signage and controls.
  • Support and respond to radiological incidents, including contaminated personnel or areas, and assist in corrective actions.
  • Provide radiological oversight during the preparation, packaging, and shipment of radioactive materials and waste.
  • Collect and analyze radiological samples; manage air monitoring and sampling programs.
  • Maintain accurate records and data related to radiological activities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in radiation measurement, radioisotope handling, and radiation monitoring.
  • At least 1 year performing radiation protection duties at a nuclear power plant
  • 2 years performing radiological job coverage as a qualified technician.
  • Strong understanding of radiation safety principles and ability to apply advanced technical concepts.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a radiation protection team.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting and transporting up to 40 pounds, and able to bend, stoop, stand, and walk for extended periods (4-6 hours/day).
  • Must be able to pass a routine medical exam
 

The pay range for this position is $35.00 to $60.00 per hour. The base pay offered may be higher or lower, depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, along with a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, depending on the position offered.
