Overview

One of the largest full-service geospatial solutions providers in North America is seeking a Lead Analyst with advanced expertise in PLS-CADD software to support a major utility project. In this leadership role, you will oversee analysis and design activities for high-voltage transmission lines, guide a team of analysts, and ensure technical excellence in the application of LiDAR data and PLS-CADD modeling. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality results that align with client standards, specifications, and timelines.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead detailed modeling and design of transmission lines ranging from 69kV to 550kV using PLS-CADD, ensuring compliance with client standards and industry regulations. 
  • Oversee integration of remotely sensed data (LiDAR) into PLS-CADD transmission models with accuracy and precision. 
  • Provide technical direction and review for structural analysis and the design of pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures. 
  • Lead the specification and validation of transmission line materials and components based on project needs. 
  • Perform and review batch thermal analyses to assess system thermal performance under varying environmental conditions. 
  • Ensure accurate analysis of conductor thermal ratings, factoring in temperature, wind, and solar radiation. 
  • Mentor and support analysts while fostering collaboration with project managers and multidisciplinary teams. 
  • Conduct and oversee internal quality checks of PLS-CADD models and drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance. 
  • Identify and resolve complex technical challenges, offering innovative and practical design solutions. 
  • Contribute to process improvements and best practices within the transmission design team. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical Engineering, GIS, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred). 
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in transmission line design, with advanced hands-on use of PLS-CADD software. 
  • Proficient in PLS-CADD with working knowledge of PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, and related tools. 
  • Proven experience integrating terrain mapping, LiDAR data, and GIS into transmission line models. 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor team members and coordinate complex projects. 
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering results. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams. 
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, manage project workloads, and meet deadlines under pressure.
