This role is fully remote but needs to be based in Missouri, Iowa, or Nebraska.

 

If you are a Professional Engineer aiming to grow your career within Structural Forensics Engineering, then this opportunity will have you build credible relationships with clients and the community, having you think laterally approaching challenges in delivering project solutions.

 

As our Forensic Professional Engineer, you will lead and support forensic investigations into structural failures, water intrusions, roof damage, construction defects, and building system issues. You will conduct field investigations and analyze failures involving a variety of structures within residential and commercial properties. You will determine the cause, origin, and extent of structural failures, water intrusions, roof damage, construction defects, and building system failures. Evaluations may include foundation settlement investigations, structural assessments, site evaluations, subsurface investigations, and vibration analysis.

Responsibilities

Other responsibilities may include:

 

  • Prepare reports documenting causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation.
  • Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings.

Qualifications

We are seeking the following qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Active Professional Engineering (PE) license in one or more Midwest states, or ability to obtain.
  • 2-5 years proven experience in forensic engineering, including building assessments and failure analysis.
  • Proficiency in structural systems and foundation design, including concrete, masonry, wood, and steel is a plus.
  • Familiarity with building codes and construction documentation.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the Midwest for site investigations.
  • Capable of accessing multi-story roofs or willing to train.
  • Capable to access crawlspaces and attics.
