Overview

NV5 Geospatial is actively recruiting a GIS Systems Administrator who possesses sound expertise in geospatial technologies and database administration. The administrator must be self-motivated with exceptional planning, critical thinking, analytical and communication skills. The administrator must work well in team environments. The administrator will provide support for the collection, production, analysis, dissemination and maintenance of consistent and accurate installation geospatial data and products. The work will be based primarily in Oberpfalz Bavaria area. Position start is contingent upon contract award.

 

Work Environment:

  • Location: Oberpfalz Bavaria area
  • Applicants must have been living in Germany for at least 12 months, and must already have a valid work permit or be otherwise authorized to work in Germany. 

  • Travel < 10% of the time

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary support for geospatial, IT, social media, and Web Mapping Services.
  • Provide full-spectrum technical support for the sustainment, enhancement, and seamless operation of the Army Range Mapper (ARM) System and its web-based user interface, TAP-IN (Training Area Platform – Interactive Network).
  • Ensure ARM and TAP-IN operate as a unified system that supports operational readiness, planning, and compliance with applicable geospatial and security standards.
  • Must be familiar with the DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Ensure system compliance with all relevant DoD cybersecurity policies and standards.
  • Manage and deploy DoD Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates.
  • Performing routine system data backups and recovery operations.
  • Work on web applications for GIS web viewer.
  • Manage ESRI/ArcGIS products and licensing (ArcGIS Pro and License Manager).
  • Work with ESRI/ArcGIS Portal application and creation of web apps in Portal.
  • Will need to edit or modify GIS data in ArcGIS software and perform QA/QC check of data.
  • Ability to demonstrate progress to the client and communicate issues related to unclear, missing, or incomplete information.
  • Ability to engage with local client staff.
  • Ability to accurately prepare deliverables for delivery to the client.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Residency Requirement: Applicants must have been living in Germany for at least 12 months prior to applying.
  • Masters Degree in GIS, IT, computer science, or related field or Bachelors Degree plus five (5) years directly applicable experience, in GIS or computer science.
  • Excellent communication, team-work and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Python, C#, .NET, Visual Studio, HTML, and/or CSS.
  • QA/QC experience.
  • Experience with Esri ArcGIS Software.
  • Working knowledge of design and use of GIS and/or computerized mapping system (public or military).
  • Fluent English language speaking and writing skillset.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in GIS, IT, computer science, or related fields.
  • Sound technical understanding of key technologies (GIS, CADD, Database) and systems.
  • Familiarity with QCP implementation and the SDSFIE family of standards.
  • 5+ years or more managing systems.
  • Familiarity with relational database management systems and enterprise environments.
  • German language speaking and writing skillset.
