Laser Scan Technician

The Laser Scan Technician supports the needs of a federal BIM program by performing laser scanning and generating accurate point cloud data information using a variety of tools. This role contributes directly to the creation and maintenance of Master Record Drawings (MRDs).

• Experience with all aspects of LiDAR scanning projects including client coordination
• Experience operating various laser scan equipment including TLS (preferably Leica RTC360) and SLAM (preferably NavVis VLX) devices in various environments including exterior, interior and above ceiling
• Drone Pilot - FAA Part 107 certification and minimum 200 hours flight time.
• Experience with various photogrammetry applications to develop meshes and point clouds from imagery.
• Experience with integrating survey control into scans and drone work.
• Extensive experience with point cloud assembly/alignment, QA/QC, segmentation/cleanup, and file output (preferably Leica Register and NavVis IVION).
• Manage and maintain Laser scan Equipment (hardware and software)
• Working Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit to know how to work with point clouds.
• Coordinate with on-site teams and report progress, issues, potentials risks to BIM/Contract Manager.

• Minimum 3-4 years of professional experience as a laser scan technician within architectural, engineering, or construction environments.
• Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and facility floor plans.
• Familiarity with practices and standards required in federal or institutional projects.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established workflows and QC standards.
• Associate’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Surveying, or Construction Management a or STEM based program.

Location: On-Site (Client Facility, National Capital Region)
Security Clearance: U.S. Citizenship required; must meet federal background investigation requirements
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 0730–1630 (excluding federal holidays)

The pay range for this Washington DC position is $24.04 - $38.46 per hour; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Medical, dental, and vision insurance are also offered to full-time employees, along with Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Accounts, with employee and employer contributions.
