Responsibilities

About the Role:
NV5 is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Project Manager with 15+ years in structural engineering, focused on transportation infrastructure. This position is ideal for a technically strong and client-focused leader who can manage complex public-sector projects, lead interdisciplinary teams, and cultivate long-term client relationships. The ideal candidate will have proven experience with NJDOT, NJTA, and other regional transportation agencies. In addition to project delivery, the Senior PM will play a key role in supporting business development and organizational growth, including mentoring junior staff and expanding NV5’s presence in the region.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Project Manager for major bridge and structural engineering projects, including state and authority-level clients such as NJDOT and NJTA
  • Develop, negotiate, and manage scopes of work and fee estimates for structural engineering and transportation infrastructure projects
  • Coordinate tasks with other disciplines (e.g., roadway, geotechnical, environmental) and clearly communicate expectations
  • Manage projects from initiation through closeout, ensuring deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget
  • Maintain accountability for project financials, including tracking budgets, billing summaries, accounts receivable, and monthly reporting to accounting
  • Implement and oversee the QA/QC process across all project stages
  • Prepare and monitor project schedules and resource planning
  • Facilitate strong internal communication with project teams and senior management
  • Develop technical and cost proposals and support strategic marketing efforts to grow NV5’s public infrastructure portfolio
  • Serve as primary point of contact for clients; maintain and strengthen client relationships, with an emphasis on NJDOT, NJTA, NJ Transit, and county/local agencies
  • Proactively contribute to client development and capture planning, including participation in pre-positioning efforts and teaming strategies
  • Mentor and support the professional growth of junior and mid-level staff
  • Support office and practice growth initiatives throughout New Jersey

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering (M.S. preferred)
  • PE license required (NJ PE preferred)
  • 15+ years of experience in bridge or structural engineering, with increasing project management responsibilities
  • Deep knowledge of AASHTO LRFD, NJDOT/NJTA design standards, and structural design software (e.g., STAAD, LEAP, LARSA)
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale public infrastructure projects and multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated success in client management and developing work with state and transportation agencies such as NJDOT and NJTA
  • Strong leadership, client communication, and team-building skills

Compensation: $135,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year. Base pay offered for this New Jersey based role may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
