Overview

The Senior GIS Specialist is expected to perform advanced GIS tasks, including data management, analysis, and visualization, to support the Washington Headquarters Services (WHS) facilities. 

Work Environment:

  • Location: Washington, DC – on-site at the Pentagon and Pentagon Reservation 
  • Travel < 15% of the time

Responsibilities

  • Manage the GIS geodatabase, ensuring all data is accurate and compliant with Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE).
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Real Property representatives. 
  • Complete GIS requests as outlined in the Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan (QASP) or as agreed with the Integrated Technology Division (ITD).
  • Address daily Maximo GIS requests, such as resolving portal issues, developing GIS experiences, uploading/integrating data, and generating PDFs for areas of interest. 
  • Utilize Experience Builder to create, update, and maintain GIS experiences for WHS and ITD customers.
  • Develop ArcGIS Online applications in portal environment. 
  • Create, update, and manage the Real Property Inventory in GIS, ensuring all Real Property data is accurate and available.
  • Update the Master Project List (MPL) in SharePoint and Maximo once Real Property assets are mapped.
  • Maintain the Exterior Utilities Master Plan with As-Built information from construction projects, ensuring compliance with SDSFIE and A/E/C CAD Standards.
  • Create excavation permit maps and related documents to support excavation processes. 
  • Ability to conduct site walks, field surveys, and cross-reference MRD documents to confirm GIS data accuracy.
  • Use MRDs and related documentation to create, update, and maintain utilities, base maps, and asset data in the WHS GIS database, coordinating with stakeholders. 
  • Provide weekly updates to ITD on GIS work progress and planning.
  • Coordinate with the Defense Installations Spatial Data Infrastructure (DISDI) Program to maintain a working WHS SDSFIE and workspace.
  • Attend GIS-related meetings to support WHS objectives.

Qualifications

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geography/GIS, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in GIS analysis, design, and implementation. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with the ESRI ArcGIS software suite, including ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and other related tools. 
  • Experience with ESRI applications, such as Experience Builder and configuring out of the box widgets
  • Experience with ArcGIS online portal development. 
  • Familiarity with Master Record Drawing (MRD) documents. 
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
