Overview

We are seeking a Staff Geologist/Engineer with 0-3 years of experience to join our team of Site Assessment and Remediation experts in the Seattle, WA office. The team works to serve our existing client base in the industrial, private development and government sectors.

 

This role will provide field and office technical support for the characterization and evaluation of potentially contaminated properties, and permit compliance. Specific tasks will typically include conducting multi-media site investigations (including soil, groundwater, soil vapor, indoor air, and stormwater), and the associated documentation, analysis, and reporting efforts under the direct supervision of a project manager.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments pursuant to ASTM standards;
  • Supervision of the installation, development, and sampling of groundwater monitoring wells;
  • Perform vapor intrusion assessments;
  • NPDES stormwater compliance efforts;
  • Oversee and direct subcontractors including drilling oversight;
  • Collaborate primarily with internal staff, including your project team and peers;
  • Management and evaluation of analytical data using Excel and/or other database software;
  • Assist with the preparation of technical reports, work plans and cost estimates;
  • Work closely with project managers to deliver projects on schedule and within budget; and
  • Adhere to NV5 site safety standards and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university in geology, hydrogeology, or civil/environmental engineering or other related science;
  • 0-3 years of related experience;
  • Ability to work outdoors in field sampling conditions and lift 50 lbs;
  • Operational knowledge of computer databases and office programs (MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word);
  • Strong organization and time management skills;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills; and
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful candidate will either have their GIT or EIT, and have the desire to pursue future licensure as a LG or PE;
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification with current 8-hour refresher; and
  • Washington State UST Assessor license.

The pay range for this Washington position is $65,000.00- $85,000.00 per year; based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. NV5 may provide sign-on/stay bonuses, or relocation allowances as part of the compensation package. Medical, dental, and vision insurance are also offered to full-time employees, along with Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Accounts, with employee and employer contributions.
