Overview

The Associate Technical Production Lead is integral to supporting the Lidar Processing and Classification team with daily production operations. This role requires a deep understanding of technical requirements and project workflows, combined with the ability to perform hands-on production tasks while identifying potential project risks and resource gaps. In addition to technical expertise, the Associate Technical Production Lead plays a key role in team management by fostering professional development, providing mentorship, and supporting overall team growth. This individual will help ensure smooth production processes while contributing to the continuous improvement of team performance and project delivery. 

 

Work Environment:  Onsite - NV5 Portland, OR office

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to production by performing data processing tasks and independently handling project workflows 
  • Train team members on various project workflows and tasks 
  • Own and standardize Lidar Processing and Classification workflows to ensure consistency 
  • Serve as a task lead on multiple projects, delegating effectively as needed 
  • Assist with team supervision, including tracking PTO and conducting 1-on-1s 
  • Support the professional growth of team members through mentorship and development 
  • Mentor task/tech leads in monitoring, reporting, organizational skills, and soft skills 
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and setting up training plans for new team members 
  • Provide performance feedback and actively support employee development 
  • Oversee project tracking and report status to the team lead 
  • Identify and escalate project risks, establishing communication with subcontractors as needed 
  • Forecast and adjust team resources to ensure project deadlines are met 
  • Recommend task leads and define the scope of tasks for each project 
  • Support internal project kick-offs, retrospectives, and drive workflow process improvements 
  • Set and uphold standards, ensuring best practices for workflows, project setup, and meeting client specifications. 

Qualifications

Requirements and Qualifications 

  • 3+ years of Lidar production experience, with team leadership responsibility (task lead, technical lead roles) 
  • Strong understanding of production workflows, quality control, and troubleshooting 
  • Experience with project tracking and resource management tools  
  • Solid communication skills with ability to work across technical and non-technical teams 
  • Proven ability to manage schedules, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines 
  • Experience mentoring team members and supporting professional development 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, Remote Sensing, Geography, or related field 
  • Familiarity with Lidar processing tools 
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies
