Overview

NV5Geospatial is currently seeking an Associate Systems Administrator to support the administration and maintenance of the Air Force's ESRI geospatial systems, including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, and related technologies, deployed on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure. The successful candidate will also provide desktop support for Air Force users, ensuring seamless operation of ESRI software and related applications on Windows-based systems. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level systems administrator to join our team and gain hands-on experience with ESRI geospatial systems, cloud computing, and desktop support in a dynamic and secure environment.

 

 

Role: Associate Geospatial Systems Administrator

 

Work Environment:

  • Location:  Must be located near St. Louis, MO. This is an onsite position at Scott AFB. 
  • Travel up to 10% of the time

Responsibilities

1. ESRI Geospatial Systems Administration:

  • Assist in the administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the Air Force's ESRI geospatial systems, including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, and related technologies.
  • Ensure system uptime, performance, and security, and perform routine maintenance tasks, such as backups, updates, and patches, in compliance with Air Force regulations and security protocols.
  • Collaborate with the team to design, implement, and document ESRI system architectures and workflows that meet Air Force requirements.

2. AWS Cloud Management:

  • Assist in the management and maintenance of AWS cloud infrastructure, including EC2 instances, S3 storage, and RDS databases, in compliance with Air Force cloud security policies and procedures.
  • Ensure cloud resources are properly configured, secured, and optimized for performance and cost, and that all security and compliance requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with the team to design and implement cloud-based solutions for the Air Force's ESRI geospatial systems.

3. Desktop Support:

  • Ensure users have the necessary software, hardware, and configuration to perform their jobs efficiently and effectively, and that all systems are properly secured and configured to meet Air Force security standards.

4. Security and Maintenance:

  • Perform regular security updates, patches, and vulnerability scans on ESRI geospatial systems in compliance with Air Force security protocols and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Air Force security policies and procedures, including those related to cloud security, data protection, and access control.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and implement security best practices for ESRI geospatial systems and desktop applications that meet Air Force requirements.

5. Troubleshooting:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with ESRI geospatial systems, AWS cloud infrastructure, and Windows-based desktop systems, in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Use diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and resolve problems, including network connectivity issues, software conflicts, and hardware failures, and document all troubleshooting activities in accordance with Air Force regulations.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and maintain a knowledge base of troubleshooting procedures and solutions that meet Air Force requirements.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Geography, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in systems administration, preferably with ESRI geospatial systems and AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of ESRI software, including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Server.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services, including EC2, S3, and RDS.
  • Experience with desktop support, including troubleshooting and resolving issues with ESRI software and related applications on Windows-based systems, including Windows 11.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with stakeholders, including Air Force personnel and external partners.
  • Familiarity with security best practices, including vulnerability scanning and patch management, and compliance with Air Force security protocols and regulations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ESRI certification, such as ArcGIS Desktop Developer or ArcGIS Server Administrator.
  • AWS certification, such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or AWS Certified Developer.
  • Experience with scripting languages, such as Python or PowerShell.
  • Experience with cloud security, including AWS IAM and security groups, and compliance with Air Force cloud security policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with Air Force regulations and security protocols, including those related to cloud security, data protection, and access control.
