Under supervision, prepares electrical design drawings and specifications for new construction, existing facilities expansion, and renovation projects. Projects will be of moderate to difficult complexity. Project manager will be the primary point of contact with owners, architects, and other engineers. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Design requirements will be defined by verbal instructions, sketches, and/or formal documents. Able to work without immediate supervision and able to understand project scope and contract requirements. Must be able to manage project from schematic design through construction administration.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains basic data from documents, occupant interviews, and field measurements.
  • Prepares electrical floor plans, site plans, and other drawings for small construction and remodel projects using computer aided drafting techniques.
  • Compiles specifications and contract documents from existing sources for assigned projects.
  • Performs field review of existing facilities to determine and verify relevant services and site layout, and to coordinate construction with plans and specifications.
  • Responsible for system sizing and layout, selection of components for systems.
  • Utilizes AutoCAD, Architectural Desktop and/or Revit equipment and maintains current knowledge of CAD technology principles and applications.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Applies project scope and contract requirements to project deliverables.
  • Works within scope and budget for project tasks.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 8 years of design experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Proven ability to perform the duties specified with prior project experience at an equivalent level of responsibility.
  • Have strong understanding of National Electrical Code and other local codes

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • PE license preferred.
